Country Spotlight:
Japan (Part 1)
Gift Giving: When giving gifts to Japanese guests, make sure they are
brightly wrapped.
Business Card Etiquette: When receiving a business card from a
Japanese person, be sure to accept it with both hands, look at it a long time, and act
impressed. Then put it in a small holder that is used exclusively for business cards. Do
not take a business card holder out of, or put it back in, a back pocket. It is not polite
to sit on a business card.
The Bow: When greeting a Japanese person, be sure to bow. When bowing,
be sure to bow as long and as low as they do.
Personal Space: Be sure and allow the Japanese their personal space.
Don't hug them or pat them on the back. |
